Vancouver loves the arts!

Vancouver is the cultural capital of Western Canada, a place to enjoy the finest of arts. Check out these upcoming events to get just a taste of, well, great taste!

There’s a reason why Ikea is the place to buy cheap, attractive and functional furniture – Scandinavian countries have a rich history of design and design philosophy that has informed how the entire world approaches the making of, well, THINGS!

This retrospective at the Vancouver Art Gallery is a deep dive into the ways that this school of design has influenced Canadian culture, showing works by Scandinavian artists as well as those by Canadian artisans who took up those practices and developed them with new materials and designs that show a distinctly Canadian identity!

This exhibit will be on all November – check here for further details.

Cirque du Soleil are world famous for their spectacular acrobats, clowns, and stage shows that transform their venues into worlds of whimsy and wonder. Each of their shows are to be cherished, and Kurios: Cabinet of Curiosities is no exception.

Taking place at the Grand Chapeau in Vancouver’s Concourse Pacific Place until the end of December, Kurios is filled with endless visual invention. Inspired by a distinctly “Steampunk” aesthetic, the entire show aims to delight. Cirque invites you to “step into the curio cabinet of an ambitious inventor who defies the laws of time, space and dimension in order to reinvent everything around him. Suddenly, the visible becomes invisible, perspectives are transformed, and the world is literally turned upside down.”
